February 24, 2010

Vera’s Tante Herte and Onkel Alfred from Bredenbek, Germany, Tante Dolly from Delaware, Richard, Vera, Char and I went to Walt Disney World today. It was a rainy day but between the raindrops we admired the beautiful landscape and had fun at Epcot.

Left to right: Richard, Vera, Uncle Alfred, Aunt Herte, Aunt Dolly, Char and I.

We had lunch at the Biergarten Restaurant in the German Pavilion. After lunch we did a little souvenir shopping then headed for the monorail. We took a short tour of the Grand Floridian Hotel before entering the Magic Kingdom to ride through A Small World. As we left the attraction, we noticed the temperature and rain continued to fall so we headed back home for coffee, cake, fudge and a enjoyable evening visit.

February 22, 2010

It has been over a month since our last entry. We have done lots of fun things during this time.

In January we spent a day at the big RV Show in Tampa. Richard and Vera went with us and of course we bought a few little things for our motor home. It was a good show but there weren’t many new motor homes to look at. Manufactures were still trying to get production going again. We did look at a few used RVs but didn’t see anything we wanted to trade for our motor homes.

Also in January, we took our motor home into Cummins and Freightliner for recalls. Both were simple and quick.

We went to Home Depot and purchased some PVC pipe and connectors that became a laundry hanger that attaches to the ladder on the back of the motor home. It folds up and can be stored easily in the basement storage area. Richard helped and we copied his hanger that Vera uses.

At the end of the month, we purchased a Wii game. It is really helping Char with her hand-brain coordination. In fact she is a lot better than me. We play with Richard and Vera and I usually have the lowest score in most games. It is a lot of fun and I’m sure I will improve with practice (at least I hope so). Char and I put the game in one of the cabinets on the passenger side of the motor home and ran the wires through panels and cabinets to the TV at the front of the RV. This was a challenge and I’m glad Char was here to help.

The first of February, we took our motor home to a local repair shop to have the rear furnace repaired. We discovered it wasn’t working while we were in Texas for Mike’s wedding. It was an easy fix-a wire had come off. While there we also had our 5-year old tow bar inspected and rebuilt.

Also the first week of this month, we went to the FMCA Rally in Brooksville, Florida. It was not as big as the RV Show in Tampa but was fun. As usual we bought a few more things we needed in the motor home.

Last week we went with a group of 55 from our Park by bus to Sanford, Florida for a three-hour lunch cruise on the River Romance Boat traveling the St. Johns River and Lake Monroe. It was cool for Florida and we stayed inside most of the time. Happily they have an indoor restaurant. The food was great and the view was outstanding. We would like to do this again when the weather is better so we could be outside to see more sights along the river.

This is our bus filled with various aged youngsters out for fun.

Richard and Vera shared our booth with us.

Char and I.

The cruise was over and a picture to remember the day.

We are close together to keep warm in the strong cold wind.

Here we are boarding the bus for the trip home.
