We are back in Florida now. We got home last Thursday. Char did really well so we drove longer each day than planned and made it back in three days. The day we left Indiana the temperature went down to fourteen degrees that night. It was only forty-four at Franklin, Kentucky where we stopped for the night. We managed to stay ahead of the cold as we came back to the sunny south. It is good to be back in the warm seventies and eighties again.

Char is doing well physically and can do some of the things she used to do. She still has problems with her speech and memory. She is doing more around the RV. This morning she asked me to help her find her recipe box and book for the microwave. She is trying to learn how to use the microwave again. It is difficult for her. She has problems reading the dial and buttons. I still do the cooking. She helps and asks lots of questions so I know she is trying to get back to normal.

I called the therapy company that is working with Char to tell them that we are home and ready to start back with therapy. They told me they are no longer working with us. They were not able to provide the speech therapy that Char needs so the Dr. terminated them. Hopefully it won’t take long to find another company that can provide both physical and speech therapy. We have an appointment next week with the Dr. and will see what he has planned.

While we were in Indiana, we had trouble with one of our AC/heat pumps and the generator in the RV. Now that we are home everything is working great. Our RV friends tend to think it may have been operator error. Perhaps they are correct but I think I will have things checked just to be sure.

We’ve had lots of rain. Our motor home is parked at the bottom of a hill and the water comes to us and puddles about 1-2 inches deep before moving on toward the nearby creek. On my first venture outside, I stepped into water over my shoe top. While wet feet are fun at the beach, they are uncomfortable in cold temperatures. After changing shoes, socks and drying my feet I was a little more careful my next trip outside.

Mike went back to Florida today so we drove in some very heavy rainstorms to get him to the airport. His plane left on time and he made it home without any problems. We are a little jealous of him because the temperature is in the mid eighties during the day there compared to upper forties and lower fifties here.

We plan to start our trip back to Florida on Tuesday morning. On the trip north, with Mike’s help driving, we made it in two days. We will return to our normal driving routine and take four or five days to go back. Hopefully we will have good driving conditions and no inclement weather on the way south.

Today we had a wonderful Memorial Service for Mom. Lots of family and friends attended. My sister, Debbie and her daughter Aida put together a photo tribute of Mom and family that everyone enjoyed. Many fond memories were exchanged. Later in the afternoon, the immediate family had a private ceremony at the cemetery. We all feel Mom is in a magnificent place and is again with those she loved that preceded her to heaven.

We made it through a day filled with many emotions. Char and I would like to thank everyone for your prayers and many kind words we have received in this time of intense sorrow.
