It is a lot of fun to be able to play and enjoy the perfect weather here in Central Florida. Guess where we went today?

The ginger bread man we saw yesterday on the Christmas Tree was going to be okay so we went back to take some more pictures.

This is what we were looking for.

Once we completed our mission, we decided to stay and play. The four of us, Richard, Vera, Char and I found the little kid inside of us. The kids had fun at Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor, It’s a small world, The Hall of Presidents, Pirates of the Caribbean, Swiss Family Treehouse, Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café and the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor.

Here we are at the Tomorrowland Indy Speedway.

I think they had a faster car so they came in first.

We watched the Disney Dreams Come True Afternoon Parade from Liberty Square. Then later in the evening from the second level of the Main Street Train Station, we watched Cinderella’s Holiday Wish, which includes the new lighting on the Castle and the SpectroMagic nighttime light parade. After spending the day having fun we were more than a little tired. Here are a few more pictures of our day:

Retirement is great. We get to do what we want almost any time we want. Today we went to Walt Disney World to do a little shopping and to find a ginger bread man. Richard and Vera are helping their grandson, Hunter, with a school project. He needs Grandma and Grandpa to tell the class where they saw a ginger bread man. So we went in search of one. We didn’t find anything at the Downtown Disney shops so we went looking elsewhere.

We met a lady passing out samples of ginger bread in the Grand Floridian Hotel and she had a ginger bread man on her apron. This was not exactly what we were looking for so we decided to go to The Magic Kingdom. But before we left, I managed to take a good picture of Richard and Vera in front of the Grand Floridian Christmas Tree.

At the front entrance we saw Joy and Derek our neighbors from our RV Park. They work at The Magic Kingdom and were giving direction to guests wanting to attend The MK Christmas Party that night.

They sure have terrific “Disney” smiles.

At the Magic Kingdom they had some ginger bread men on the Christmas Tree near Cinderella’s Castle. This was just what we were looking for so I took a few pictures. My pictures didn’t turn out very well so we decided to try again another day.

Our Park Thanksgiving dinner was fantastic. We had turkey, mashed potatoes & gravy, several different dressings, lots of casseroles, rolls & butter and pumpkin and apple pie for desert. If anyone left hungry it was his or her own fault. There was so much food that everyone was invited to come back later in the afternoon for a second meal. Although it was great, we did not go back as one big meal per day is enough for us.

As you can see, there was lots of great food.

Our loving friends sat across the table from us.

Here we are slowly making our way home after dinner.

In the afternoon, Charlotte & Vera worked on crafts. We all sat around our picnic table inside the screen room. Richard was busy crocheting and Mike was the keeper of the dog. He and Brandie are best of friends. I just sat around relaxing and watching everyone else. Occasionally, I took a picture or two.

Doesn’t this look like fun?

Notice Richard’s concentration.
Mike and his buddy Brandie.

This was my project. I watched the beautiful sunset.

Later in the evening, our ex-neighbor, Danny, stopped by for a short visit. He lived in his parent’s motor home next door to us last year. He now has an apartment and his Mom & Dad have the motor home again. He joined the card playing fun in progress. Mike was teaching Richard and Vera another new card game called “peanuts”. It is played similar to solitaire with two decks of cards and teams. It is a very fast paced game with cards and hands flying all over the table. Danny said his family plays this game all the time but knew it as another name. He is very good at multi-tasking so he updated us on school, work and his family while playing. He is going to school full time and working 30 hours per week. His school operates 24 hours a day and he sometimes has class from 9:00 PM till 5:00 AM and then it is off to work. He seems to be holding up well with his busy schedule. It was great to see him again.

Oh, in case you are wondering, we still have some of Charlotte and Vera’s terrific pumpkin pies left for tomorrow. If you are in the neighborhood, stop by for a sample.

November 21, 2007

We received an email today from a very good friend that ended with a short and simple message. Update your blog.

It has been almost a month since the last entry and we have been busy having fun. We have been from Daytona to Tampa. The first week of November, we went to Lazy Days RV where we bought our motor home for some warranty repairs. We were there for five days. The first night we dry camped in the parking lot. The second night we stayed in a repair bay. The third night we were in the new coach delivery area. The fourth night we stayed in the cabinet shop bay. Everyone went all out to make our stay as comfortable as possible. We will need to take the motor home back in December for one more repair.

The Summer Travelers (Richard, Vera, Char & I) went to check out the end of the year RV clearance deals at the Daytona International Speedway. We saw many new and used 2006 and 2007 RVs of all sizes but nothing we had to have. It was a lot of fun and we always enjoy seeing the different models and options we may want on our next motor home. The best thing about this trip was dinner at The Cracker Barrel.

Mike taught us a new card game, UNO HEARTS. The five of us have had lots of laughs and enjoyment playing this fast paced game. The box claims these cards take UNO fun to a new level and we all agree. Mike learned this game several years ago and told us it is no longer available in stores. Mike found this copy on E Bay. Thanks Mike for sharing all this fun.

Today we celebrated Vera’s birthday. Tonight, we had a great dinner at Smokey Bones Restaurant. Later we watched the new release of Santa Claus 3 at Mike’s. As I’ve said before, it is fantastic to have a great day with great friends. Happy Birthday Vera.

Tomorrow, we will have Thanksgiving dinner at the recreation hall in our Park. It will be potluck the same as last year. I am looking forward to the many tasty dishes that will be there. We have lots of great cooks in our Park and tomorrow they get to demonstrate their skills with their favorite specialties.

Thank you Shelly for caring and the reminder to update our blog. I will try to stay more current in the future.

We wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving.
