October 1, 2007

Webster’s Flea Market was incorporated in 1937 and covers over 40 acres. It is open one day a week on Mondays unless Christmas falls on Monday then it is closed. Now is the slower summer season. During the winter months, as we get more “Snowbirds” in the area, this market becomes busier and more hectic. Although we have lived in Florida for more than 20 years, this was our first visit. Most all the vendors are under a roof. This was greatly appreciated because it did rain for a little while today.

Later we had a late lunch at home and then went to Ocala’s Historic Downtown Square to see some painted horses on display. This is a similar program of the painted boots in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Here is a picture of one of the horses.

This is “Sky Dancing” painted by Linda Ballentine Brown. It represent horse racing. Over 100 horse heads can be seen racing in the clouds. There are more than 50 painted horses around town. It looks like it is time for another great scavenger hunt. I’ll have more on this later.
