Septmber 7, 2007

Today was a day with my Mom. We had soup, salad and pie for lunch at Baker’s Square Restaurant, stopped at the drugstore for her prescriptions and then went grocery shopping. Though it was a day for errands, it was still nice to be with Mom.

We returned to the campground and went for a walk around our current home. When we stayed a week ago we noticed about forty Canadian geese near the pond on the grounds. Today we counted over 100 geese. We talked to the owner and he said seven or eight spent the summer here each year and the rest gather here prior to their migration south for the winter. They seemed to know that we would not harm them and let us take pictures. We wonder how many more we will get to see before we leave next here early next week.

This is a nice stopping place for the geese. It has a nice pond and grassy areas with lots of seeds and bugs. It is also close to farmer’s fields they can glean. Not all the crops have been harvested yet but will be in the next month or so.

Later as Char was preparing dinner, my brother, Roger, called to tell us that my Mom was on her way to the Hospital Emergency Room. They did some tests and let her go back home. She will call her Doctor tomorrow for consultation and to likely schedule more tests in the next couple of weeks. Hopefully this will not be anything serious.
