It is time to announce the results of the Lake Michigan fishing trip. We used Bob’s boat and Roger’s expertise of Lake Michigan fishing hot spots. I supported Bob by assisting with the Sonar/GPS equipment. This is the second time I have been fishing in Bob’s boat and both times the navigation/fish finding equipment showed a map of Palmer Lake. Palmer Lake for everyone’s information is in Michigan and not where we were in Indiana. It seems to be a great looking lake on the electronics but this information isn’t very helpful when we are at Mud Lake or Lake Michigan. I know Bob could have set everything correctly. But, he wanted me to feel like a valuable part of this fishing trip. So, he asked me to try and set the Lowrance for Lake Michigan. After several tries, I finally succeeded. We had a map of Lake Michigan with our current position and the current water depth. We even had the fish below us marked on the screen. What more could we have wanted? Seeing fish marked on the fish finder and catching them is not the same thing. As I have said before, fishing is usually always good but catching can be a little less fulfilling. We did catch 17 perch varying in size to about 6” to 12” in length. This may not have been a lot of fish but it was about the same as most other fishermen’s catches of the day.
Here are some pictures of the Master and novice fishermen.

Bob is the boat owner and Master # 1.

Roger is the Lake Michigan guide and Master # 2.
Master # 1 catches them two at a time.
The novice only catches fish one at a time but is happy to catch any.
Unfortunately, I didn’t get a picture of the many fish that Roger caught. For the record, we didn’t keep track of who caught the largest fish but it looks like my fish is slightly larger than Bob’s two at a time catch. Of course it could be the camera angle.
This is what Master Fishermen look like filleting and de-boning the catch. At this point in time, I was the official photographer.
The final part of this story is that I took the fillets home with me and the final individual’s expertise comes into play next. Charlotte’s expertise will be the frying and mine will be the eating of the fish. Thank You, Bob and Roger.
