August 3, 2007

Sometimes things don’t always turn out as planned. When we left our RVs this morning, we were headed downtown to visit the Historic Governors’ Mansion. On the way, we saw an extra wide load on a flatbed semi trailer. It was an extremely large dump truck box. It was at least 12 - 15 foot wider than the trailer where it was attached. Upon seeing this thing, we instantly became curious. We wondered where they could be taking such a thing. We decided to follow for a little while and just watch.

The oncoming traffic had to move off the road so the big rig could pass. It was very interesting to watch as this very big load navigated the highways.

We followed for a while before turning off to come back to Cheyenne. We were enjoying the scenery and the “moving event” so much that we didn’t realize we had driven about 25 – 30 miles out of town. We didn’t want to come back the same way so we opted for a little longer route home. A little after noon, we arrived at Pine Bluffs, Wyoming. We stopped and picked up Subway sandwiches and went to the Town Park for lunch. After lunch the kids enjoyed playing for a while before leaving.

I know what you are thinking, great photography. I must admit that I used Vera’s camera to take these fun pictures.

At the edge of this quaint little town is a large statue of the Virgin Mary. We thought this place might be interesting to visit. It is called “Our Lady of Peace Shrine”. The site includes various statues and it takes some time to see everything.

We arrived home late in the afternoon. We will visit the Historic Governors’ Mansion next week if we have time and aren’t sidetracked by another unusual happening.
