Karl, Jill and Abby joined Richard, Vera, Char and me for a trip to Royal Gorge Bridge and Park. What a place! This is the world’s tallest suspension bridge. It is 1053 feet above the Arkansas River. If you are not afraid of heights, then this is a wonderful place to visit. Those of you who know me, know this is not my kind of place. I must say I did have a great day but not on the bridge or looking into the depths below. I did manage to take a few pictures. Luckily, Vera isn’t bothered by high places and she took some great pictures.

Here is a picture of Richard and Vera on the bridge. You guessed correctly, I did not take this picture.
Cables made of 2100 strands of number 9-wire support the bridge. You can see a picture of my hand on one of the cables. It is amazing the strength of a little wire when it is combined with others the same size.

Here is a picture of Karl and Abby leaving my side to cross the gorge in the cable car. It was difficult for me to watch them leave and extremely difficult to take this picture.

This is a great place to visit. Even I enjoyed the views though not up close to the edge of the canyon.
