We were exstatic with the magnificent scenery of the Rocky Mountains today. It is very difficult to describe the extraordinary beauty. We spent the entire day oohing and aahing as we drove along Trail Ridge Road, the highest continuous paved road in the United States. We didn’t get as high up as Vera and Richard when they went to Pike’s Peak. We did go up to about 12,200 feet. No matter what the elevation, the views are breath taking.
We didn’t see a lot of animals. Most of them have retreated to the very high back country. We did find a few Elk and a Deer along the road.

I think some of the best things in the mountains are the wild flowers. I think someone else feels the same way. We saw lots of flowers and they became more beautiful as we traveled along to the top. It is wonderful to see flowers growing at these high altitudes and in such harsh conditions. It is very difficult to capture the spectacular beauty but we tried.

Towards the end of the day we visited my favorite place, Bear Lake. We walked the half-mile trail around the lake stopping often to take pictures or to sit and admire the glorious scenery.
This is a must place to visit if you are in the area. Just remember when you get here, you need to drink plenty of water and wear comfortable clothing and shoes.
